How to type each notation
You want Type this Matrix matrix(1, 2; 3, 4) or just (1 2; 3 4)
Square-bracket matrix bmatrix(1 0; 0 1) or [1 2; 3 4]
Determinant |a b; c d|
Column vector (3; −2)
Piecewise function or equations cases(x², x > 0; −x, x ≤ 0)
Sum Σ_{i=1}^{n} i
Integral ∫_0^1 x² dx
Limit lim_{x→0} sin x/x
Cube or nth root root(3, 27), ∛64, ³√(x+1)
Vector, bar, hat vec(AB), bar(x) or x̄, hat(i), overline(AB), dot(x)
Combinations binom(n, r), ⁿC_r Derivatives ∂f/∂x, d²y/dx²
Rows and entries: a semicolon starts a new row. Entries are separated by commas, or by spaces if the row has no commas. Use commas when an entry contains spaces, such as matrix(2x + 1, 3; 0, 1). Matrix entries: they can hold fractions, powers and roots. Brackets: they stretch to fit the contents. Matrices get curved brackets, determinants get bars, and cases gets a left brace. No syntax to remember: under the maths toolbar there is a new “∑ Matrices, sums, integrals and more” panel with one-tap buttons. Each types a starting example for you to edit.
I also made the typesetting handle these details:
n(n+1)/2 puts the whole n(n+1) on top. [x³/3]_0^1 stacks the limits one above the other. A sentence like (see note; page 3) or a function call like f(1; 2) is not mistaken for a matrix.
I added a few symbols to the shared toolbar: ℝ ℕ ℤ ℚ ℂ ⊆ △ ≅ ∼ ∝ ∂ ∇ ∏ γ. They are harmless on the other pages that use it.
